Welcome - Bienvenidos

We Are the Descendants of Francisco & Rita Luna Robles

rita luna robles

Our Matriarch

We do not have a picture of Francisco, but meet Rita.

Rita was most likely born in the 1830's in Sonora, Mexico. Research has resulted in not one shred of evidence of her birth or baptism. And, unfortunately, no marriage information to Francisco Robles.

We do find them a married couple in 1850 in Ures, Sonora, Mexico who had a large family of children eventually; Andres, Plutarco, Leandro, Miguel, Francisco, Eulogia, Rafael, Guadalupe, Gertrudis, Luz & Gregoria. And there may be other children yet to be discovered.

reunions

Every year anywhere from 250-500 family members gather in Tucson, Arizona to visit, eat some really great food, listen to the music of the mariachis and share photos and stories about our ROBLES family/genealogy.

Reunions are in our DNA!

REUNION

Three Robles lines. Gordy,  (Gertrudis), Rosemary, Bonnie, Reina (Rafael line) and Concha (Francisco line).

REUNION

In-laws come to the reunions also.  Vivian (Francisco line) and her husband Alex were catching an early breakfast in Pinetop, Arizona.

REUNION

We watch the children grow from reunion to reunion.  Think Eric & Mason (both Gertrudis line) were on their way to go fishing.

Meet Tiburcio Munoz (Gertrudis line).  You can call him Tibo for short.  He’s also known as ‘guero’.  He has been researching his immediate family, the ROBLES/BUTTNER line for too many years to count.  And it brings him great joy to share his research with family or anyone looking how to research their own family.

Tibo is an old fashion genealogist who is anyone prior to the internet which has now simplified research by making information readily accessible to anyone with a computer.  I fall into this category having only begun researching in 2012.  Tibo, being a retired Tucson detective, possessed the right tools and perfect instinct to find family documentation the old-fashioned way looking for clues everywhere and then verifying what he had found.

So when I met him, he mentored me along the way and he and I enjoyed a couple of years going to the places of our ancestors …..court houses, churches, cemeteries, and knocking on peoples doors. It was a very quick, enjoyable hands-on education for me.

Most of all, he encouraged me.  This website, Facebook group, the books I’ve put together, etc. are a result of his belief that somehow I would figure it out.

Guild of One Name Studies
The Guild of One Name Studies promotes the interest of individuals, groups, and societies engaged in one-name and surname studies.  Family historians worldwide can benefit from our research and support services.

Hi, I am your prima Susan Long, your  Robles/Luna family genealogist.  My mother Lydia was a Robles (Miguel line).

So glad you are here.  Many of you I know and those I don’t I very much look forward to meeting.

WAIT!

Thinking we may not be your ROBLES family.   Think again.

If your ROBLES have any connection to Mexico within the past 200+ years, then we are most likely related.  Distantly, perhaps, but very probably related.  Have you tested your DNA?  If so,               then you know you have thousands upon thousands of people that share your DNA.  And this can be a frustrating bit of information, because there are so many DNA matches, but       so very few, relatively speaking, that you KNOW, that you can identify first or second hand.

We have a ROBLES One-Name Study provided for you that may answer your questions.  Or create a lot of questions for you.  Click on this button.
